One of the most fun couples ever! Becka, is an incredibly beautiful bride and person, and Derek had an evil sense of humor. He had us laughing all the way during the engagement shoot, and the wedding. Besides, what can you say about the couple that leave their wedding on a Harley, except .. total wickedness !

Below is their album design for all of you to see and enjoy :)

I selected the picture below to serve as our jan08 picure of the month. I think it idealizes the romance of yesteryear, and catches the sentiment of an emotional embrace between two people in love. This moment was captured during Josh and Shanna’s engagement shoot at Meadowbrook, by my lovely wife Fauzeen. I hope you enjoy the moment that it immortalizes.

Last sunday, I spent the day with Melinda and Kelvin… infact, they got married, and I took a few pictures !. On meeting these two, I found that Melinda is a delightful gal, who works with GM at the Rencen, in downtown Detroit, and Kelvin, just one of the nicest guys works with Meijer’s constuction arm. Chances are that you have shopped for your groceries in one of the locations that Kelvin developed.

Despite the cold wet day, the wedding was a warm and emotional affair, and I caputured some moments of their day !

Im not usually one to distribute stories and mail, but, as I read this note, I was rather humbled and touched by the last line in the story. To me personally, it was an important lesson to understand. I hope that you, too, enjoy this story as I did- thx/Aali

Two horses - There is a field, with two horses in it.
From a distance, each horse looks like any other horse. But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing. Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing.

If you stand nearby and listen, you will hear the sound of a bell.Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field. Attached to the horse’s halter is a small bell. It lets the blind friend know where the other horse is, so he can follow.
As you stand and watch these two horses, you’ll see that the horse with the bell is always checking on the blind horse, and that the blind horse will listen for the bell and then slowly walk to where the other horse is, trusting that he will not be led astray.

When the horse with the bell returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, it stops occasionally and looks back, making sure that the blind friend isn’t too far behind to hear the bell.
Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges.
He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need. Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of those who God places in our lives.
Other times we are the guide horse, helping others to find their way. Good friends are like that… you may not always see them, but you know they are always there.
Please listen for my bell and I’ll listen for yours.. and remember…be kinder than necessary- everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Two Horses

I first met Jared whilst shooting Beth + Bertrand’s wedding in France. Jared, this veritable goofball spent his entire time making silly faces at me… needless to say, he and I instantly got along. He had amazing stories to share about his recent stay in Africa and he had quite the excellent sense of humor and wit (Especially after a couple glasses of wine). Laine and I, on the other hand, met many moons ago through my very good friend Beth. Laine and Jared are an amazing couple. High School sweethearts! By just looking at them you can feel the love between them.

10/15/2007 - 8.00am/Meadowbrook Hall - With a date and time finally set to get together and shoot. It was time to photograph Joe and Rachelle’s engagment. We agreed to meet at 8.00a at Meadowbrook. The clocked ticked, and it was 8.20a, and Joe an Rachelle were not to be seen. Just as I was thinking that I had been stood up (punks !), I got a call from Joe saying that they got lost on the Oakland University Campus. So, after giving them directions, I met them at the hall.

So, I spent about 5 mins or so, explaining to them that the objective of the shoot was to allow Joe and Rachelle to walk around and be romantic, and that there would be lots of making out….. I was hardly done speaking, and Joe, .. not to be told twice, went to town on Rachelle …

Enclosed is a sneak peek at their make out session. Thanks guys for being patient and such good sports !!

Congratulations to our Brides 2 Be contest winners, Joe and Rachelle.

10/28/2007 - 9.00am/Cranbrook Mansion - With the wedding in April/08, this sunday was probably the last nice day of the year for an engagement shoot. Talk about livin’ it on the edge .. Raj/Kiran, our Punjabi Couple are definitely the type to live it up on the ‘Chak de Phattay’ side of life. When Raj and Kiran are not dancing to imaginary music in their head,… Raj works in the advertising industry, and Kiran consults in education.

On this day in question however, Raj, dressed in HugoBOSS, and Kiran, in Indian Couture represented Bollywood instead of their respective industries. We decided that this would make for the perfect opportunity to photograph this Jatt and Jattni whilst they canoodled on the picturesque grounds of cranbrook. Enclosed below is a sneak peek of the morning … we hope you enjoy these as much as we did making them !. How much do they love each other , you ask? A picture is worth a thousand words, but pucchn’ich ki harj ay?
